This is an example of a custom-built sensor enclosure built for the nuclear industry where the measurement gases contain traces of tritium which is highly poisonous and radioactive. The Rapidox 2100E uses an electrochemical sensor on a remote cable that is housed inside a helium leak tested 316 stainless housing. All sensors and connections are located inside the enclosure so that any failure cannot ever release any tritium gas into the atmosphere. The electrical connections are made through a certified glass sealed pin connector housed in a welded CF-50 lid, and the entire enclosure is independently tested and certificated using a helium mass spectrometer. This particular enclosure was approved for use by the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) to measure oxygen levels in gases containing tritium.
