Luke Shields, Managing Director

With over fifteen years at Cambridge Sensotec, Luke has progressed from Chief Technician to Production Manager and now serves as Managing Director. His technical background shapes his forward‑looking approach to company growth and innovation.

He leads the development and execution of Cambridge Sensotec’s long‑term strategy, overseeing regulated product development, market expansion, and operational scalability while aligning teams and resources with strategic priorities.

Focused on sustainable growth and competitive positioning, Luke drives initiatives that strengthen the product portfolio, enhance customer value, and support the company’s evolution in global markets.

Mike Parish, Sales & Marketing Director

Mike Parish joined Cambridge Sensotec in March 2018 as a Sales Executive. In 2024, he progressed to Group Sales and Marketing Manager and in 2026 he was appointed to his current role as Sales and Marketing Director.

In his previous roles Mike held Sales Manager positions within the furniture manufacturing and steel fabrication industries, providing him with a broad commercial background across technical and industrial markets.

This experience enabled him to gain expertise in the gas analysis sector, team leadership and strategic sales planning & development.  All these skills assist him with his current responsibilities which include leading the Sales and Marketing team and executing the company’s commercial strategy to achieve sales targets and drive sustainable growth.

Throughout his time at the company, Mike has played a key role in the business to achieve its budgetary and profitability objectives. He is well liked and known for his approachable and fair leadership style and for ensuring an open, receptive team culture focused on performance, collaboration, and long-term customer relationships.

Layla Greenhall, Finance Director

With over 15 years of experience at Cambridge Sensotec, Layla’s wide-ranging knowledge and experience across the administration, quality and accounts departments have supported her progression into the role of Finance Director.

Layla began her career in administration and was quickly promoted to lead her team, where she prioritised improving cost control and continued process improvement. After returning from maternity leave in 2017, she became a key member of the quality team, maintaining the ISO 9001 standard across the business, before moving into the finance department and pursuing a CIMA accounting qualification. Her extensive understanding of the business, built through long-standing involvement across multiple functions, provides a strong foundation for her position in the leadership team.

Layla is responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the finance department, ensuring robust financial processes are in place and continuously developed to support the wider business. Through her commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, Layla takes pride in strengthening the finance function and supporting Cambridge Sensotec’s ongoing success.

Nigel Gregg, Director of Research

Nigel has been a key member of the Cambridge Sensotec team for over 15 years, playing an instrumental role in the development and successful launch of numerous gas sensors and analysers. His work has consistently helped translate innovative ideas into reliable, market-ready solutions.

In 2026, Nigel was appointed Director of Research, a role in which he leads the company’s research strategy with a clear focus on quality, innovation, and the adoption of new technologies. His aim is to ensure Cambridge Sensotec remains at the forefront of gas analysis in an evolving global market.

Nigel graduated from the University of York with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science. He has a particular interest in embedded systems, bringing deep technical expertise and a forward-thinking mindset to every stage of product development.

Mark Swetnam, Principal Scientist

Founded Cambridge Sensotec with fellow Directors Victor and Donald in 2000. He has been the Managing Director for over twenty years and has led the company from a two-man part-time operation, building machines in his spare bedroom, to a multi-million pound turnover business employing over thirty people in two factories. Mark graduated with a degree in Geology from Hull University and completed a Masters degree in Industrial Mineralogy, before specialising in electrochemical ceramic sensors to complete a PhD at Leeds University. He has worked in research both in industry (Cookson Group Plc) as well as spending five years as a Post Doc researcher at Cambridge University.

Donald Kings, Principal Scientist

Along with fellow directors Mark and Victor, Donald helped set up Cambridge Sensotec in 2000, acting as the Technical Director of the company. As such he has been responsible for the original design and development of the Rapidox 1100, 2100 and 3100 range of instruments in their various forms, as well as most of the proprietary elements of the 5100, 6100 and 7100 electronic hardware and firmware. He also provides technical support and advice to manufacturing and to customers. Donald has a degree in Physics and over the past 47 years has worked in Physics, Electronics and Software in France, the USA and the UK before joining Cambridge Sensotec full-time. He also worked as a freelance photographer whilst spending a year in Africa in the mid 1980s.  He has recently stepped down as Technical Director to join Mark in a role as Principal Scientist.

Lorraine Stevenson, Office Manager

Lorraine joined Cambridge Sensotec in July 2017 as Office Manager bringing with her more than 30 years’ expertise within the construction and logistics industries. Her experience is varied from being a PA to the Operations Director of a National home delivery company, to sales and accountancy/credit control. A customer-focused front of office professional, accountable for accurate processing of orders and management of the administration and logistics team. Lorraine is responsible for ensuring the overall smooth running of the business.
